Our Story
From Extractives to Energy Transition: A Decade of Civic Action for Energy Justice
The Energy Governance Platform (EGP) is a coalition of civil society organisations working to make Africa’s energy future just, inclusive, and sustainable.
Founded in 2013 as the Kenya Civil Society Platform on Oil and Gas (KCSPOG), our journey began with a simple belief — that Kenya’s natural resources should be managed for the benefit of its people, not a privileged few.
A decade later, we have evolved from focusing on extractives to shaping conversations on the energy transition — ensuring that Africa’s shift toward renewables protects livelihoods, strengthens governance, and leaves no one behind. Our rebrand to EGP reflects this transformation and our expanded role in advancing energy justice across the continent.
